Extended Day (Kindergarten)

The third year of Lower School is refered to as Extended Day and is a culmination of the Lower School experience for 5-year-old children ready to extend their day with advanced work. At this age lessons from the previous years come together and solidify the child's understanding.  Extended Day children are looked up to as role models and eagerly accept their new role as leaders.  They enjoy teaching what they have learned to there younger classmates which benefit both themselves as mentors and the mentored.  The Extended Day child uses previously learned skills such as self-control, concentration, order, and independence and applies them with readiness to meet new challenges.

Why Montessori for the Kindergarten year?
