Partnering with Parents

Children thrive when home and school are in harmony. At FWM we acknowledge that parents play the most important role as educator in their children's lives. Studies have proven a key factor for a child's educational success is directly linked to parent participation and partnership with staff at school.

Support your child by learning more about Montessori

We encourage families to become familiar with Montessori principles and embrace the FWM mission and promise statements so that together we provide the best experience for your child.

Parent education and community involvement are an essential part of a Montessori education at FWM. When parents fully understand the philosophy and benefits of a Montessori education their child's school experience is enhanced. When parents don’t fully understand the Montessori process communication between school and home is compromised. FWM hosts several opportunities for parents to better understand the Montessori education their children are experiencing and asks that all parents attend Curriculum Nights, Montessori Journey, discussion formats and visiting speakers.

Some of our past speakers have been Trevor Eissler, author of Montessori Madness, and Dr. Stephen Hughes, chair of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Global Research Committee.

The FWM Lending Library also has a multitude of books about Montessori education that are available to be signed out. For more information please refer to our online page Resources & Perspectives.

FWM attracts an exciting parent community, representing many nationalities, cultures and life experiences. Parents who have personal experiences that are relevant to their child’s education are welcomed into the classrooms to visit and make presentations to the children.
