The Lower Elementary Program at Fraser Woods Montessori School encourages students to explore the world of ideas and creativity.  It is here that students, still using hands-on Montessori materials, begin to move from the tangible learning of their Primary experience to more abstract concepts.  The core of the Elementary Program are The Great Lessons, a series of stories that effectively introduce the entire universe to the student.  The Great Lessons are the basis of the students’ awe-filled adventure in the pursuit of learning with the goal of producing independent, creative students who are capable of incorporating reading, writing and independent thinking into all areas of the curriculum.

Enrichment

Lower Elementary students also participate in Spanish, Music, Physical Education, MakerSpace, and the Art Studio.

Upper Elementary

Ages 9 – 11
Monday through Friday 8:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
After School care is available until 5:30 p.m.

Grades 4 and 5

In Upper Elementary, it’s not unusual for a student to still have one foot in Lower Elementary while the other stretches to Middle School.  The Fraser Woods Montessori school curriculum is designed as a bridge between the two, where each individual’s social, intellectual and emotional skill level is respected as they seek to know not only “what” but “how” and “why.”

As students begin their transition into adolescence, they explore moral and ethical ideas as they seek to identify what makes them unique.  The Upper Elementary Curriculum expands upon the foundation of skills learned in Lower Elementary, providing students with the academic, social and cultural skills needed for Middle School and beyond, while encouraging independent learning, organizational skills and continued self-awareness.
