This Week in Lower Elementary

The beauty of a Montessori lower elementary multi-aged classroom lies in its unique blend of independence, collaboration, and mutual growth. In this environment, children from different age groups learn together, creating a community where each child has a role, whether as a learner, mentor, or leader. Younger students gain confidence and motivation as they observe and interact with older peers, while older students develop empathy, responsibility, and leadership by guiding the younger ones. This dynamic fosters a natural and supportive way of learning, where each child’s individual pace and interests are honored, allowing curiosity to flourish and academic growth to occur in a deeply meaningful way.

To deepen our students’ understanding of Diwali, our school organized a vibrant celebration guided by the dedicated efforts of our enthusiastic staff, students, and parents from the community. Special thanks go to Paromita for coordinating this beautiful event! Students embraced the holiday’s spirit by reading books about Diwali and exploring its rich history and traditions. In the classroom, they participated in a diya craft activity, creating their own colorful clay lamps to symbolize the festival’s theme of light overcoming darkness. This hands-on experience brought Diwali’s meaning to life and filled the room with creativity and excitement. Parents and community members generously contributed a range of traditional treats, allowing the children to savor a variety of flavors from different cuisines. The entire event was a beautiful blend of learning, laughter, and togetherness—a perfect way to honor Diwali and its meaning of light, community, and joy.
