Mrs. Wilson: Welcome Back and Welcome Winter

Welcome back, everyone! The children came back beautifully. They adjusted well to the change in the environment. I have taken the pikler triangle out and put the climber and slide in instead. I have also changed the placement of the shelves. It took the children no time to navigate throughout the room to find their favorite lessons.

Other changes in the environment are the theme; we are welcoming winter. I was fearing we would not have concrete weather when talking about snow, ice, and cold with the way the weather has been so far, but Mother Nature provided for us. Now using winter vocabulary will not seem so abstract for some of the children.

For food tasting, the children tasted kale (uncooked). I was shocked by how many seemed to enjoy it. Give it a go at home!

Mrs. Hood: ‘Tis the Season!

And just like that, our first trimester comes to an end, filled with great moments and stories to tell. Your children are blooming and our environment is full of love, smiles, curiosity and great fun because of them! We feel honored to be able to see each of your little ones unfolding so beautifully.

We thank you SO much for your support and trust. We love partnering with you in this adventure! We also want to thank you for your thoughtful and generous gifts to us! It’s truly appreciated!

May the wonder and Joy of this holiday season bring light, hope and peace to you and yours.

May 2022 be a great year for all of us, filled with happiness and health!

Enjoy a peek from our Pajama Holiday celebration!

Stay safe and see you next year! 🙂

Happy Holidays from All of Us to All of You!

The holiday season gives all of us time to pause and reflect and to say “thank you” to the entire school community – parents, staff, and students alike.

I have witnessed our FWM community come together as a true community family to celebrate and support each other, never losing sight of our purpose… the children.

As we enjoy this time of family, friends, and celebrating, we want to extend our warmest holiday wishes to each FWM family in our community.  Thank you for entrusting your children into our care every day.

I hope you all have a festive and special holiday with plenty of time to relax and enjoy family and friends.

Warmest Wishes for a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year!

Mrs. Wilson: ‘Twas The Week Before Winter Break

‘Twas the Wednesday before Winter break,
and all through the toddler room,
the children dressed in their jammies,
including their teachers too!

They ate cinnamon rolls,
and heapings of fruit.
While washing it down with a mug of hot chocolate and mini marshmallows,  just a few.

We played the bells while dancing to Jingle Bell Rock.
Then listened to stories about Santa filling up socks. (‘Twas The Night Before Christmas)

I will end this note with a Happy Holidays to you. I wish you warm wishes, and magical memories during the winter break. See you in 2022!

Mrs. Lopes: Happy Holiday Wishes

“The best and most beautiful things cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart” -Helen Keller

We cannot believe how quickly the month of December has passed and winter break is upon us!  This month the children have enjoyed learning about all the special holidays that are celebrated in December. Learning about the holidays of different cultures embraces the Montessori principals of inclusion and peace and helps students understand that celebrations have had a great significance to people throughout time and across all cultures. Rituals and celebrations are a large part of human history. They have to do with your culture, as well as your time and place in history. As we celebrate the holiday season we encourage you to create your own rituals as a family and celebrate this season of togetherness.

The children thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas celebration this week.  We read the book ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and then each child decorated cookies with their choice of frosting and sprinkles.  Thank you to all the families who donated supplies for this event, it is truly appreciated!

May your holidays be merry and filled with moments you’ll always remember.  See you in the new year!

Love,

Amanda and Heather

Upper El: Thank you!

May the Warm Winds of Heaven blow softly upon your house. May the Great Spirit bless all who enter there. May your mocassins make happy tracks in many snows. And may the rainbow always touch your shoulder. -Sioux Prayer, translated by Lakota Sioux Chief, Yellow Lark

We have had a wonderful end to 2021. Thank you to all who contributed yummy treats for our class party today. Thank you for your generous gifts. Most of all, thank you for sharing your beautiful children with me each day! Have a wonderful two weeks with loved ones and I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

With love,
Karen

Middle School: See You Next Year!

The mood has been light and energy is buzzing in Middle School this week! We completed our holiday door decorating and celebrated with yummy treats, thanks to you! The holiday family drive was a success, and we satisfied wish lists for two families in Newtown. Please enjoy time with friends and family over the next two weeks and know that the Middle School teachers can’t wait to see our students in 2022. Thanks to all of you for making 2021 awesome!

Mrs. Doyle: Gifts From the Heart

As the Holidays are quickly approaching, we often hear the children speak, throughout the day, of what they hope to receive as a gift. Through literature, classroom conversations and taking a peek into the different holidays celebrated by those around the world, we introduce the concept and power of giving as the best gift of all.

We asked each child what gift they could share during this holiday season.  We told them it does not need to cost anything and it really is about helping others and our communities.  They could share their gift with a loved one or even be a secret gift giver and do something anonymously for someone in need.  The simplicity of their words is heartwarming.

The world could learn a lot by listening to these children!

Anchor–I can teach kids how to do multiplication if they don’t know how to do it.

Bodie–I can help my dad fix things with his tools.

Emma Jo–I’m really good at gymnastics, so I can teach everyone that.

Emma–I can sing songs for the whole world.

Everly–I can share my stuffed dog Striper with children who are scared or sad.

Greyson–I can teach people how to paint pictures.

Isla–I can help my mom clean the floors, do her work and do just about anything for her because I love her that much.

Landon–I can help Daddy fix the wall in my living room.

Lily–I can make Christmas decorations and share them with people.

Luca–I can give scooter rides to anyone who needs to go somewhere.

Marin–I’m really good at drawing so I could teach people how to do that.

Micaela–I can help my mom make pancakes and clean up the kitchen.

Olivia–I can pick up garbage whenever I see it.

Saanvi–I can send toys to people who are sad.

Stephen–I can help my mom and dad decorate the whole house for Christmas.

Theo–I can teach people how to do the number roll work.

Virginia–I can help Georgie when he cries and needs to find his pacifier.

Wilder–I can share my toys with people who don’t have any.

Zara–I can make breakfast with my sister Mya for my Daddy.

Wishing each and everyone of you peace and love during this holiday season.  Take time to enjoy the gifts that aren’t wrapped.

Warmly,

Michelle & Liset
