Ms. Rhodora’s Class: Our First Week

We welcomed a group of fabulous children to FWM! The children are off to a great start. Your children arrived with hardly a tear and are now busy settling in, making friends, and learning routines. Each day, they find their locker, hang up their backpacks, put on their indoor shoes, and put their snack and water bottles in the classroom.

During Phase in, we focused on safety rules, grace, and courtesy in our classroom. The daily calendar activities have captured their attention quite easily. We learned to line up properly and stand in line, respecting our friends’ space. This lesson helped the children practice following directions and using listening skills. Throughout the week, we also worked on saying ‘please’, ‘thank you’, and ‘excuse me’.
Thank you so much, Ms. Sankey, for visiting our class. We really enjoyed meeting Houdini. We appreciate you taking the time to come by.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Welcome Back Lower Elementary!

What an amazing start to the school year! Lower Elementary has been full of energy as we welcomed new classmates and reunited with familiar friends. To help everyone feel connected, we jumped right into fun activities like name games, bingo, and a classroom scavenger hunt. These games made it easy to learn each other’s names and sparked plenty of laughter, setting the stage for a warm and collaborative classroom community. We also tapped into our creativity by crafting peace doves and self-portraits to be displayed in the classroom as symbols of the harmony we’re building together this year.

Starting last week, you’ll also notice Friday Folders coming home with your child. Each Friday, your child will bring home a folder labeled with their name that contains some of the work they’ve completed during the week. Please take a moment to look through and enjoy their work with them, then remove the contents before sending the empty folder back on Monday. It’s important to note that the work you see in these folders is just a portion of what your child is doing in the classroom. Students also complete work in notebooks, workbooks, and through lots of hands-on, sensorial materials. The Friday Folders give you a small window into their week, and we really appreciate your help in keeping this routine going smoothly!

Looking back on this first week, it’s clear that we’re off to a wonderful beginning. The enthusiasm, creativity, and kindness already shining through make us excited for everything ahead. Here’s to a year filled with learning, friendship, and growth!

Ms. Vicki’s Phase-In and First Week

We have had so much fun in class so far! We have been exploring our classroom and new materials, getting to know each other, and learning new routines. We have been learning about apples and farm animals. We have also been singing a lot of Old MacDonald Had a Farm!

Mrs. Wilson: A Beautiful Start to a Beautiful Year

The past two weeks have been nothing short of magical, one of the smoothest phase-ins I’ve experienced in my 15 years. The children have adjusted beautifully to their new environment, teachers, and peers.

During the first week, our focus was simply on helping them feel safe and building trust in all the newness. By the second week, we began introducing grace and courtesy lessons such as using a work mat, returning work to the shelf, sitting to eat, and tucking in chairs.

In just two short weeks, the amount of learning and growth has been inspiring. I can already tell this is going to be a truly beautiful year!

First Birthday Celebration of the school year.

Mrs. Sargeant: A Peek at the Week

Welcome to a new school year!  We know that the phase-in schedule can be challenging to manage, but it does allow us to set the tone for the year. We are grateful for your patience and understanding. While it was a busy week, it was a very successful one!

In just a few short days, the children are beginning to learn how to navigate the environment and the routines of our day. This is a work in progress and constantly evolving over the year. We had a very smooth start, and we are so excited to be part of this journey with all of the children and all of you!

The adage “a picture speaks a thousand words” comes to mind when you see all the smiles on each child’s face.

Thursday, September 25th, from 5:30-7:00, is Curriculum Night. This is a great time to spend some time in our classroom and get a sneak peek into how our days are spent. We will discuss each area of the classroom, the structure of our days, and have some time to answer all of your questions.

We look forward to seeing everyone!

As a gentle reminder, to streamline our dismissal process, please stay in your car while a teacher brings your child over. The teacher will assist the child in the car. Please pull forward to the gravel area before exiting the car and buckling your child in. Thank you for your help!

Have a wonderful week!

Mrs. Hood: Good bye, Little Ones- Hello Big Adventures!

This week, something magical happened—our butterflies finally emerged from their chrysalises! We were lucky to observe them fluttering inside the butterfly house for a couple of days before we gently carried them to the butterfly garden. There, together, we opened the glass doors and watched in awe as they took flight—free, joyful, and fulfilling the very purpose they were created for.

In many ways, this moment mirrors what we’re witnessing in our classroom. As this school year comes to a close, our toddlers—once unsure and wobbly in their first steps—are now confidently spreading their wings. Just like our butterflies, they are ready for the next stage of life.

It’s been a year filled with laughter, wonder, and steady growth. From pouring water and finishing puzzles to making friends and mastering the rhythm of our days, your children have made remarkable progress. These seemingly small moments are powerful milestones that reflect growing independence, resilience, and confidence.

Our classroom has been more than just a place to learn. It’s been a safe, loving space where your children have explored with joy and felt deeply valued. We’ve celebrated the ordinary and the extraordinary, and every giggle, hug, and triumph has been cherished.

To each family, thank you. Thank you for trusting us, for supporting us, and for walking alongside Patty and me in this meaningful work. Your partnership has meant the world.

On a personal note, this farewell is especially tender for me. After eight beautiful years of supporting toddlers at this incredible school, it’s time for my own new adventure. As you know, my family and I will be moving to Oregon this summer, and while I am excited for what’s ahead, I will deeply miss this community, all the children and families I’ve been lucky enough to know, and the joyful rhythm of our days together. Thank you for the memories. I carry them with me.

Lastly, thank you for the thoughtful gifts on Friday—they meant so much to me. Please know that Patty feels the same way. We were both deeply touched by your kindness. I’m incredibly happy that Patty will be here next school year—her warmth, experience, and love for the children will continue to be a gift to the classroom and to the little ones returning for their second year in our toddler community.

Please enjoy the photos from our final Spirit Week and the three sweet birthday celebrations that closed out our year. Look closely—you’ll see the transformation, the growth, and the light that each child carries as they fly forward.

With deepest gratitude and a full heart,
Mrs. Hood
