This week, we focused on slowing down, working carefully, and completing activities from start to finish independently. It was wonderful to watch the children take pride in their efforts and show growing confidence in their abilities.

During art time, the children practiced unscrewing the caps on dot markers by themselves. This small but meaningful task strengthens hand muscles, coordination, and perseverance. They were so proud when they were able to do it on their own!

When water spilled after pouring activities, the children helped wipe the tables independently. These moments are valuable opportunities to learn responsibility, care for our environment, and understand that mistakes are part of the learning process.

We also practiced walking calmly from one activity to the next, helping create a peaceful classroom where everyone can focus and feel comfortable. The children are becoming more aware of their movements and how they share space with friends.

We were able to enjoy some time outside in the snow this week! The children loved moving their bodies, exploring the chilly air, and experiencing winter weather.

This week brought exciting new discoveries, joyful celebrations, and meaningful social learning in our classroom!

We introduced a light box to the classroom, and it was an instant favorite! The children explored translucent shapes, placing and matching them onto pictures while watching the colors glow. This activity sparked curiosity, creativity, and careful observation as they experimented with light and color.

We had such a special time celebrating Valentine’s Day together. The children enjoyed a festive party with their friends and shared a special snack as a class. It was a lovely opportunity to practice kindness, friendship, and togetherness.

Throughout the week, we read stories that focused on friendship, caring, and kindness. These conversations help children begin to understand how their actions affect others and how we can be kind members of our classroom community.

We’ve also been talking a lot about different emotions. The children practiced making various facial expressions while looking in the mirror, which helped them connect feelings with facial cues. It was wonderful to see them laugh, explore, and become more aware of their own emotions and the emotions of others.

It’s been a joyful week filled with discovery, connection, and growing social awareness. We love seeing the children learn not only academic skills, but also how to be kind friends and thoughtful classmates.

This week, our classroom was filled with Valentine work and meaningful conversations about kindness, love, and friendship. The children were excited to explore the new materials and bring these themes into their daily work.

The children worked with fine motor activities, art projects, new puzzles, and magnets in the sensory bin. It has been such a joy to watch their attention and focus grow as they engage deeply with their work.

We are especially proud of our older students, who are now confidently completing work from start to finish. They are independently:

-unrolling a work mat

-choosing and placing their work on the mat

-working with focus

-putting the materials away

-rolling up their mat when finished

These are big Montessori milestones, and the pride on their faces says it all.

The children have also been loving opportunities to help clean the classroom and put their nap items away. Taking care of their environment is an important part of building responsibility, confidence, and independence. They are doing an amazing job.

We also met our classroom baby, Bella. We hold her, rock her, and are learning how to carry her gently, change her clothes, and even tuck her safely into her cradle. The children absolutely adore this new addition to our classroom family.

Food tasting this week was mangoes! What a hit! The children loved this tropical fruit and wanted more. This will be great in lunch boxes.

It’s been a week full of growth, concentration, and loving moments. We are so proud of how much the children are capable of and can’t wait to see how they continue to blossom. 💗

This week, we wrapped up our arctic animals study, and the children had so much fun bringing what they learned into their movement and play. They loved sliding down the slides like penguins, laughing and pretending as they moved their bodies in new ways.

To continue our winter exploration indoors, we brought out soft play blocks and invited the children to walk and balance on “pretend ice blocks.” This was a wonderful way to practice balance, coordination, and confidence while keeping the theme playful and imaginative.

The cold temperatures and strong wind chills made outdoor play unsafe this week, so we focused on keeping our bodies moving inside. We’re hopeful that next week’s weather will allow us to get back outside and enjoy some fresh air together.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to transition into February, when our classroom will soon be filled with love, friendship, and kindness. We can’t wait to begin exploring these themes with the children next week!

This week, several children were absent. With a smaller class size, our days were filled with extra snuggles, reading, and lots of one-on-one time. It was a quieter week, but one that allowed for meaningful connections and calm moments together.

We continued our winter theme by rescuing penguins frozen inside ice blocks. The children were fascinated as they worked to free the penguins, observing the ice and talking about how it melts. We also built ice castles, experimenting with stacking large, slippery ice cubes and problem-solving when they slid or toppled over.

The children took great pride in helping care for our classroom. They eagerly participated in sweeping, mopping, and wiping tables, showing responsibility and independence while caring for their shared space.

Stay warm, stay safe, and try to enjoy the slower pace this snowstorm brings—sometimes being “stuck inside” gives us the gift of extra quality time with our families.

This week, we focused on patience, calmness, and classroom routines as we continued strengthening our Montessori practices together.

We spent time practicing important classroom routines, such as unrolling and rolling up our work mats to clearly define our workspaces. The children also worked on walking calmly in the classroom, helping to create a peaceful environment where everyone can focus and feel safe. These routines support independence, respect for materials, and awareness of others.

One of our favorite activities this week was transferring “arctic ice water” (blue-colored water). The children carefully poured and transferred the water, practicing control, concentration, and steady hands while connecting the work to our winter theme.

We painted snowflakes using cotton swabs, giving the children a new tool to explore. This activity encouraged creativity while strengthening fine motor skills and hand control.

We also practiced cutting paper with scissors, an important activity for building hand strength and pre-writing skills. The children worked with focus and determination, proudly snipping their paper and improving with each attempt. If you saw an envelope go home this week, those were their snips!

It was a peaceful and productive week filled with intentional work, growing independence, and calm moments. We’re so proud of the effort the children are putting into their routines and self-control each day.

This week, we began learning about arctic animals and explored what snow is and what happens when it melts. The children were curious and engaged as we talked about winter weather in simple, hands-on ways. We even brought snow in from outside and watched it melt!

We introduced several new puzzles and color-matching activities. These works encouraged problem-solving, focus, and visual discrimination, and it was wonderful to see the children concentrating and celebrating their successes.

A new practical life activity this week focused on putting on and taking off mittens and gloves. This work supports independence and builds the fine motor skills needed for winter dressing. We are also practicing independently getting dressed in snow pants, jackets, and boots each time we go outside. The children are working so hard and growing more confident every day.

We’ve also been enjoying cooperative play using soft wool “snowballs.” The children worked together to roll them back and forth with friends, practicing turn-taking, coordination, and social skills, all while having lots of fun.

It’s been a wonderful week of winter learning, independence-building, and teamwork. We love seeing the children take pride in what they can do and support one another as they grow!

This week brought cold temperatures and snowy weather, and we enjoyed every bit of it! We practiced putting on our snow gear and heading outside to move our bodies as much as possible. Getting bundled up was great practice in independence and patience, and once outside, we loved exploring and moving in the winter air. When it was too chilly, we headed to the gym to keep our bodies active and strong.

One of the highlights of the week was our pajama pancake breakfast, a cozy and delicious treat! The children enjoyed eating together and did an amazing job pouring their own syrup. We also tasted hot chocolate, and there were lots of happy faces (and very full bellies!).

We introduced a new practical life activity: wrapping and unwrapping a present using reusable wrapping paper. The children loved opening and closing the paper, practicing fine motor skills, and exploring this festive work again and again.

Maverick celebrated his 3rd birthday and made three trips around the sun. Then we got to share some yummy birthday cake.

We also had the chance to watch the school’s winter showcase. Our class was captivated and couldn’t help but dance along and mimic the children on stage. It was such a joyful moment to see them engage with music and movement together.
